Many things can be enchanted or cursed and can cause harm to those who use them. Even Books. You can find some books in the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts Library. They are kept there because they are dangerous and contain information about Dark Magic. There are other books too which can cause harm is ever read improperly. This lesson will teach you of a few.

1. The Monster Book Of Monsters

This book is nasty and vicious, trying to bite the hand of anyone who opened it. The only way to calm the book down was to stroke its spine, upon which the book opens placidly. Flourish and Blotts stocked the book for a while, keeping a cage of them in the front window, but they tended to tear each other to shreds and the owner swore that the book would never be stocked again.

2.   Moste Potente Potions

This large and moldy-looking book includes the recipe for Polyjuice Potion. The pages are damp-spotted and the recipes are illustrated with grotesque pictures. In this book, some of the potions had effects almost too gruesome to think about, and there aresome very unpleasant illustrations, which include a man who seemed to have been turned inside out and a witch sprouting several extra pairs of arms out of her head.

3.   Sonnets of a Sorcerer

This book is said to contain poetry written by a very evil sorcerer. Some pages, if read, would do terrible things to you. One page is said burn your eyes out upon reading the words. Another page would not let you stop reading it once you started it.

Part Two:

Knowing what you know now of Dark Books, I want you to write a story of your encounter with one of the three books we discussed. Talk about finding the book, How you used the book, repercussions that came from using the book, anything you like. It must be at least 150 words. Submit the assigment in the Dark Objects clasroom.
